Subject: ePubs on archive.org are rubbish
Subject: ePubs on archive.org are rubbish
The high quality photographs of books compiled into a large, but worthy PDF of the book, is the reason I use this site.
Unfortunately, they also offer ... utter messes of files as ePubs. These are disgusting, with tiny pictures of the key pages, the frontmatter and the back, and then just text piled up without the formatting, so that it is a lump of meaningless garbage, an eye saw.
Most stupidly, there is no way to avoid wasting your time with the titles that fail to have the high quality photographic PDF versions of books. Some, like this title, only have the USELESS POFS ePub version, which to me is undesirable, I'll never 'make do' with this tripe, the title is a reject in these cases, but on this SLOW site, there is no indicator of ePub only versions, or to indicate that the worthwhile PDFs are available for a title. And this is bad enough for merely opening a title that is open to view, and bad enough it certainly is, this site is SLOOOOW, but then for ones to borrow, and worse, for those you have to join a waiting list - you are entering into frustration and waiting, operating the slow and clunky website, only to find NO PDF, just the kak ePub mess is available.
That is what just happened here with this title - and I'm not happy! This one says it was photographed, with an expensive DSLR indeed, so release the high quality photographic PDF already! The copy available, only in ePub, is an unusable piece of TP.
